For this project we had to make three separate objects made out of just paper with a common theme. It differed from a previous project because we had to incorporate color into all three objects. I chose Cirque du Soleil has my theme because I am inspired by all the colors, the performers, and the dream like feeling. This project was possibly my favorite because I was in control of what theme it was, the colors I used, and what techniques I used.

Memento
This project was based primarily on an important memory. My memory was of my very first dance recital. I was five years old and I did a ballet dance to the "Pink Panther" theme song. I had on a pink tutu with a pink furry tail, a giant pink bow in the hair, and long pink silk gloves. I remember being happy and excited to dance on stage with all my friends. Backstage was a little chaotic and crazy, but it did not affect me at all. This memory is important to me because I have been dancing for 14 years and your first dance recital is always the most memorable.
For this project we were only allowed to use 3 materials. I used wood, paint, and feathers. With these materials I made a box to symbolize the stage, the pink glitter paint to symbolize the color of my costume, and finally I used to feathers to represent the furry tail on my costume. I wanted to over exaggerate the colors of the costume with the glitter.
Soap Carving
We had to choose a plastic animal and carve it out of soap. It had to be life like with the same proportions of the animal. We had to carve two of the same animal out of different soaps, and then we had to make changes to the second soap. This project was the hardest one for me personally because the soap was difficult to work with. I had either carved off too much or not enough.
I had made eight additive or subtractive changes to the second soap animal. And with the final changes I decided to make a base that is similar to a plate at a Japanese restaurant because the soap looked like sushi.
Architecture Relief
We had to choose two eras of architecture and fuze them together to design a completely new structure. The eras that I chose were Gothic and Renaissance. I was inspired by the columns and arches in Renaissance architecture and I was inspired by the stain glass windows and roofs in the Gothic architecture. We were required to use foam board, balsa wood, and thread. In addition, we had to design the structure in order to hang it on the wall. This project was fun for me because I got to design my own structure and have complete control over what I wanted to make.
Paper City
For this project we had to construct two separate structures made out of just paper. Both of the paper structures had to have at least one moving component integrated into the design. I was inspired by whimsical structures, castles and Dr. Seuss houses. For the first structure I wanted to make a castle with a moving drawbridge. And the second paper structure is two houses with a moving door on the larger house. At first the paper cutting and folding was difficult, but once I got the used to the paper it became easier. In addition to the paper structure we had to integrate a wooden base into the design of both of the structures.
Shoes Masking Tape
The masking tape shoe was the first project we had in this class. I had never made shoes out of just masking tape before. It was very difficult for me because the tape is a medium that i have not worked with before. Having to make exact replicas of my shoes was difficult. This project was a trial and error type of thing that I learned as I went along. For me the second tape shoe that I made was more successful than the first one because I learned from the errors that I made while constructing the first one.
